Since its opening in December 1936 the Lauderdale Beach Hotel stood out along A1A and had been popular with guests, military service men and women, college spring breakers and postcards collectors alike. The hotel is gone now. Many interesting histories stories are available online. Below is an ad announcing the hotel which appeared in the Fort Lauderdale News on 30 November 1936. They were up and operational in December.

All the postcards shown in this post are from my collection. This first card is interesting for two reason, it’s the oldest postal used card for the hotel I have, being postmarked in February 1937 and it notes the hotel as “catering to a restricted clientele.”
